Take a walk on the wild side with us in the magical Ikara-Flinders Ranges. Travelling from the state capital, Adelaide, to the glorious Aussie outback on a road trip. Black eagles wheel over 600-million-year-old landscapes, patrolling the skies as pioneering tourism families and traditional owners preserve this special part of South Australia for the future. With desert light dawning, we flew over Rawnsley Park station, where we stayed in luxury in eco villas built to respect the environment. Flying above the rippled earth, you see its story unfolding in layers. Back on terra firma, Brachina Gorge is a scenic 20-kilometre geological trail charting 130 million years of history. Emus stride across plains, yellow-footed rock wallabies dart along ledges, and kangaroos bounce by in this UNESCO-nominated World Heritage site. And… the food and wine in South Australia are some of the best in the world. We are lucky to have grazed our way through many of this week’s featured and award-winning Michelin Guide 2026 restaurants (more on that later…) from city to outback, including the magnificent two-star Magill Estate at Penfolds in Adelaide to Rawnsley Park Estate’s own outback restaurant, the wonderful Woolshed. Don’t rush away from the Algarve’s airport capital, Faro, as this small, laid-back city’s the perfect spot to slow down and relax for a night or two before heading along the coast. We love staying right in the heart of it all. There’s nothing better than blending in with the locals, wandering the morning market, and settling in for a long lunch of local clams paired with fantastic wine – which this time was at Restaurant O David. From sunrise to salsa. One hot 24 hours spent in Miami. Starting with sunrise on the sand, watching the pelicans dive for fish and the sun light up the waves. Staying at the chic Loews Miami Beach Hotel right in the heart of South Beach makes for an ace luxury base. After breakfast and some chilled pool time among the palms, Guinness World Record football freestyler, Laura Biondo, entertained footy fans to see the in-town World Cup games at the nearby Hard Rock Stadium. Some afternoons unfold, like pages of a story.   Priorat is a land of hills threaded with vineyards and valleys, cascading down to the banks of the Siurana River. An ideal base for a luxurious wine immersion and total disconnection.   Leaving our peaceful retreat at Gran Hotel Mas d'en Bruno behind for the day, we set off to explore the vine-stitched hills of Priorat in a sporty British Racing Green Mini Cooper.   The road climbing and zig zagging beneath blue skies, with mountains rising on every side.   Our first pit stop is at the Cellars de Scala Dei – where stories of centuries of winemaking history are told through their excellent vintages, every glass of local wine telling you a bit more about where you are.   The highlight of our day was still to come. Beneath the dramatic Montsant hills, the ruins of Cartoixa d'Escaladei rise up. A monastery founded in 1194, half-reclaimed by time, half-restored to its ancient splendour. The origins of the Priorat name trace back here, to the Cartoixa d'Escaladei, the Monastery of Escaladei, founded by monks in the 12th century and the first on the Iberian Peninsula. Its Prior once served as mayor and judge of surrounding villages.   The monastery offers self-guided virtual reality tours, and the past simply... returns. Monks moved through cloisters that no longer stand. Bells that fell silent centuries ago rang again – vivid, immersive, almost cinematic. Inside the cool courtyards and quiet places of worship.
